Introduce children to the exciting world of coding with ScratchJr, a fun and hands-on platform designed to enable young minds to grasp the basics of programming.

Children will learn to create their own animated stories, as they experiment with various characters, objects and backgrounds, make their characters move, dance and sing, and even add their own voices, sounds and photos!

Basics of Coding

Children will have fun exploring ScratchJr and learning to use all its tools – from creating different backgrounds and learning about sequencing and transitions, to modifying characters and making them move and interact with one another.

Introduction to Animation

After learning the basics of programming, children will discover how to apply these skills to create simple animated scenes, with various characters, sequences and backgrounds.

Lessons include:

  • Creating new backgrounds
  • Programming multiple characters
  • Creating speech bubbles
  • Recording sounds or music and timing it to coincide with a character’s movement

Creating Animated Stories

Children will create their own animation based on well-known classics, such as ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and ‘The Gingerbread Man’.

They will create their own backgrounds, select the characters, add sounds, music and dialogue, and bring these stories to life!
